carefully asking: jmax vs. pd

i just made a switch to a pc from mac (8 years, and a little sad to go). i
don't want suggestions to wait for max for windows. this type of subject comes
up here from time to time, and i don't really want to encourage gear
discussions here, but i have a genuine need to know and thought many people
here have well-founded opinions and judgements. feel free to respond off list.
