RE: [microsound] laptops kim's article

it should be clear as well that this undermining has much to do with
factors of fame and celebrity-- attributes that often lead to both
artists and audiences to focus less on the art/creation and more on the
personality and hype, to the point where development of the fame and
personality become the project at hand, not the music (ahem, moby). how
about just focusing on the music and "settling" for interesting and deep
character?

there are luddites for every new technology that is created, no surprise
here. have we not yet learned to be wary of those who advocate some
idea of "purity"?

seeing PC and MAC laptops as in any way political left or right, is some
type of anthropomorphism that is actually very irrational, unless you
come to the conclusion that Apple marketing affects some people deeply
and other people see it as just the bullshit PR that it is-- maybe you
see nike shoes as making you run faster and pepsi as making you younger
too? -- change comes from within.

there is also I very big difference in focusing on the performance, and
focusing on the music. live public performace is inherently about
phsyical presence, and audience and artist satisfaction has more to do
with the degree to which this presence is acknowledged (via body
movement, or verbal utterances) it seems some audiences want it all,
others are happy just for a "good show" and shit music, and vis-versa,
or others just want to listen and could care less about the "the image"
of the whole thing. the point is there are many modes to appreciate
music, why should there be a "correct" one?
