Aside from the pop filter, the 57 also has a groove in it where the capsule
meets the body. This supposedly adds a slight boost in the low mids.

The 57 and 58 are great mics for live vocals, and the 57 is pretty much the
standard for micing guitar amp and snare drums in the studio and live, but
there are many better mics out there if you want to _accurately_ record
sound.
