itnerseting, the idea of samples,
seems like there should be a difference between a sample and a sound.
Seems like aq fair # of people dont sample anymore (thats inside the
micro-community).
A sample is exactly that, something you sample. A sound could be considered
a result of a process, but seems for many microsound artists sampling is not
happening, instead most sounds are generated entirley wintin some sort of
system, computer or recorded.
The idea of the sample is a difficult one indeed, right now my work is
dealing with feild recordings, but up to this point everything has been
created from scratch inside the computer no samples of anything taken, just
developing sounds and pushing them around in software.
Is making a feild recording taking a sample? If the sound is not something
that someone else has authored, would you consider nature to be someone
else?
