Ok, calling all field recorders out there...

Let's say you have an MD recorder (sony mz-r55) and want to try some field
recording.

What microphone would you recommend to a complete newbie?

Parameters:
- would prefer something kinda small, portable
- quality decent!  (doesn't have to be ultra-high end)
- would like to spend less than $150
