i in the early 90's a got a discman that you could actualy only use while it
was standing on a flat surfade. a few months later you couldn't even touch
it, many cd's started to pop, glitch and get stucked in all kinds of garbled
loops. this was back in 92 and i dident have the fantest notion about
micround, i even wonder if there was any at that time. i was just
discovering eperimental music. aldo many times al that popping & glitching
was just to mutch. but there where also some intresting and wierd sounds.
and before i knew it i was recording some of those "mishaps". but at the
same time my mind was telling me that people would think i'm completly nuts
if told them i realy enjoyed some of the stuff. stockhausen's mantra was one
of my big favorietes. some of the jumps where oh so beautifull. when a few
years later this phenomena turned into a style (?) of music (?) i realy got
into it.
but i had to get a new cd player becouse most glitch music dident come over
that wel on the broken player. and many times my mind got bussy asking if
those gltches should be there ore was the machine prodicing them. to be 100%
sure a had to take the cd to a friend and try it there. the next thing was
my friend asking me if the cd was broken and he dident seem to convinced
when i told him that this was same new stream of expermental music.and now
many years later they still frown upon it. ofcourse i never got rid of it,
from time to time feeding it with some groovy jazz, clasical piano or
chamber music it can come up with some amasing sounds/loops and at the same
time stimulating the flow of idea's, or looking at things from a different
perspective
