Ah, I was afraid of this... it's a common misconception. I hope everyone
on the list is paying attention here: IF YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM GETS
HOSED (ie: won't boot), IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU HAVE TO REFORMAT YOUR HARD
DRIVE. It may be a good idea to wipe the drive and start fresh, but, for
dog's sake, don't do it until you've accessed the drive somehow and
backed up your files. You can do this by using a linux boot cd, or a
windows rescue disc (look in your windows help to find out how to do
this), or, if nothing else -- and this is probably just the easiest
since you have to reinstall the OS anyway -- install windows again but
TELL IT NOT TO REFORMAT YOUR DRIVE.
So sorry you lost all that work.
