As for electronic music coming out of SA, there's something called
Kwaito, sometimes spelled Quaito, which is a hybrid between hip-hop,
house/techno and,of course, african music. Kwaito is sung or "spoken"
in local language dialect and
the expression of the lyrics and musical content comes in several
flavors, from what could be labelled as popmusic to agitative
political statements. Other styles of SA "electronic" music are
Mbaqanga and Bubblegum. Given that this scene is quite big in SA I
would be very suprised if there were no experimentalists in there
doing interesting things, although I have no evidence of this
whatsoever.

/Cheers,
/Hasse
