500,000 iraqis died because their ruler is an asshole and when the
"civilized" world initiated sanctions against iraq, he'd rather let his
people die than give in.  sanctions are a way to motivate a leader without
being outright destructive.  of course, this assumes the leader gives a shit
about the people against whom the sanctions are imposed.  funny how while
people starved to death in the streets, saddam was able to rebuild all of
his palaces bigger than ever.

I'm sure that somehow in the twisted minds of the people hellbent to hug the
world to death, this is all the fault of the US.
