DC electonic open mic / fan reaction to laptop

I got this from a young (22) y.o. die hard music fan I have been
trying to convert to a mucrosound listener.  He sent this to me
after seeing an event at DC's Black Cat club - thought come here
might like it. It relates to the performance aspect of laptop.

"Hey Tim,

I went to this event called Tech Club last night at the Black Cat.
It was an open mic electronic music night.  Basically, a bunch of
guys would sit up on the stage with their mac and play their songs.
It was amusing watching people "play" their laptops.  I was more
curious as to what they were looking at.  They could have been
checking their email for all I know.  Anyways, I heard some good
