A pulsetrain can be considered exactly as what it says it is, a train or
long series of short pulses (or impulses / sounds). This can go fast or
slow. It can be very metric or it can be consisiting of random bursts. If
pulsetrain is slow rythm can appear, if fast pitch usually appears. (or if
very irregular, colored noise).
Imagine trowing different stones (both light and heavy) in different ways on
a steel plate. Different sounds.

Listen to the Stockhausen excerpt Kontakte - struktur 7 at
www.stockhausen.org .
I believe he mainly used impulses for creating this piece. (of course some
treatening like filtering and feedbacking was done before using the pure
impulses.)

It has been pointed out before that this mp3 piece is NOT intended to be a
part of the Klanghausen project (no remix project in other words) but maybe
this can give some ideas on the Klanghausen project in general and
specifically an idea on how Karlheinz Stockhausen treated his impulses back
in the fifties.

The Microsound book (Curtis Roads) is also very recommended reading.

Hope any of this helps!
