Re: [microsound] ever-sharing

++++I like the idea, though I'd say that one listen
isn't enough.
++++I like music that reveals more with every listen,
++++most of you too, am I wrong ?
++Yes you're wrong :) I think alex's idea is perfect
because
++it works against the impulse to collect, consume
and horde
++that drives record collectors and mp3 swappers.=20
++At best imagine listening to an amazing piece of
music
++with the knowledge that you'll never hear it again.
I think
++that would be a very interesting state of listening
that's
++arguably lost from live performances now that
everything
++seems to be documented. The project should bring
about an
++awareness of self-control in the listener. There
is nothing to
++stop someone from copying, distributing mp3s, or
just keeping
++the CD forever but somehow the presentation of the
CD should
++encourage the listener to enter into the spirit of
the project.
Yeah I feel exactly the same about it too. And I=92d
like to push it farther and limit the CD to
non-repetitive music (put apart the fact there=92s
always a =91bit=92 of repetition when the core of your
music is 1s and 0s).

++++My opinion is that the one copy only would
enhance
++++the 'unique experience feeling'. No one is
listening
++++to this at the same moment as me. But group
++++listenings could be okay if nobody listen to it
++++twice. In fact I think it would be even best if
the
++++tracks could not be found anywhere else (not even
on
++++the net).
++++We should drop the "we should infect the most
people
++++possible with our marvelous virus" reflex for
that one.
++I agree that there should be only one copy.
++If there are multiple CDs they should each be
unique.=20
++I don't think the tracks should be available as
mp3s either,
++even on the hotline server. I like the idea that
those who=20
++contribute may never even get a chance to hear it.
++Maybe someone will come across it 20 years later.
Yes this is interesting. Even if the contributors
havent listened to the Object(s), that would be nice
if they could interact (not only read impressions)
with the Bearers through a website or email-system or
simply a snailmail-system. But if we=92re not goin to
use the hotline server, how would we get the mp3s to
put on the CD(s)? E-mailing them?
Plus, could be participation-pushing to mix some
poetry with the Object(s). Any ideas from
arsonore.net ?
