The Sabers: Record release show for band featuring
Jeff
Conaway and Charlie Hines. In November of 2002, they
completed this necessarily bleed-heavy recording
with
engineer Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Swans, John Zorn,
Keiji Haino, among many others). It's a new kind of
soundscape, tempered with a delicate, wide-open
sense
of space and infused with wild, NYC industrial
shimmer;
moody, expansive and brilliantly restrained,
released on
Neurot.

born
in ValparaÃ-so, Chile in 1943. In 1974 and after
releasing
several singles with Chilean rock bands, he arrived

the legendary group called THE 101'ERS. He will play

The Dust Dive: live music and films.
Experimental campfire music, Flatbush Avenue river
songs, cruddy suburban sounds . . . Weâ??re a
three-piece
from Brooklyn via Mississippi-riverbank Illinois,
Appalachian-foothill Massachusetts, and the big-sky
fringes of Kansas City. A lot of our songs are about
places, especially everyday American places that
people
donâ??t talk about, and the subterranean hangs of
our
youth--like all those Midwestern towns with no
people left,
the dirtbike trails to Southwick swimming hole,
legendary
Ridgeview catfish pond, Olathe North High School
parking lot, dicey suburban meadows full of field
mice,
weathered porn mags, fishing bait, and pretty weeds
. . .
We play in an apartment on Flatbush Avenue in
Brooklyn,
where sirens are our steel guitars and street-babble
is
our crickets. We canâ??t be too loud, but we can
play as late
as we want. Our sound and instrumentation has slowly
adapted to this small chamber. Vocals through
megaphones, looped animal and weather sounds,
violin,
Magnus chord organ, musical saw, and crystalline
electric guitar tones are our mainstays. And all
three of us
sing. For our next performance weâ??ll be backed by
new
video footage shot this June of backyards,
footpaths, and
tailgate party spots on the White Mountain Apache
Reservation in Arizona (where our
guitarist/violinist is
from). Weâ??ll also have the first batch of copies
of our
debut full-length album. Tentatively titled "Letâ??s
Make a
Flag of Deadpan Visions," itâ??s the culmination of
four
years of playing together.
31 Down: Noise noir scream test. Bring your screams.
Matt Bua: Entrance room installation.
Gold Sparkle Band: Live performance from
Brooklyn/Atlanta free jazz band.
