DEKORDER///NEW RELEASES///

MATT WAND - Public.Exe [10"Vinyl Dekorder 005] Mr. Wand was one half of plunderphonic duo Stock, Hausen & Walkman, now aka Small Rocks and head of the Hot Air label. Always interested in small electronic devices he began to incorporate Game Boys running the Nanoloop and Little Sound DJ software into his live sets a few years ago. First recorded results have been released on the "Nanoloop 1.0" compilation (Disco Bruit) and the "1 1/2 Volt Music" 3"CD on Hot Air (extracts from an infinite symphony for 12 self-propelled pocket game machines). After experiencing some of Mr. Wand's energetic armchair live sets during his tour with the Goodiepal and Nanoloop programmer Oliver Wittchow in Germany we proposed to release some of his live recordings and one year later we finally got the results. Played on Game Boys and few effect pedals only, these recordings were made in Manchester, Utrecht and at the Felix Kubin curated "Nuit Blanche" in Paris. While all the instruments are very small the sound defintely isn't. This is high energy electronic music reminding of early Suicide bootlegs (and sometimes causing a riot too) or Free Jazz played on handhelds. Not being your typical video game music record, it utilizes sounds you wouldn't really expect from a Game Boy. These tracks simply rock!

BLACK TO COMM
[10"Vinyl Dekorder 006]
Debut release by this new computer music artist from Hamburg, Germany.
An exciting mixture of dark, slowly evolving
drones, beautifully distorted melodies which have
been compared to early Fennesz, Pimmon and the
like, obscure hard rock sampling meets raw data
manipulation sounding like Earth jamming with
Merzbow, digital noise and computer
improvisations. A beautiful and disturbing
record! On this release Black to Comm works with
MP3-sampling, Photoshop composition and broken
software. Clear Vinyl. Limited edition of 250!

STILL AVAILABLE///

UN CADDIE RENVERSÉ DANS L'HERBE - Now There's A Weird Taste In My Mouth
[3"CD Dekorder 001]
Guess what, those of the cracked software
brigade? Mbiras, kalimbas and other African
percussives are nature's very own brand of clicks
'n' cuts, further transmogrified by an iBook.
Created with a deft touch and delicately poised -
who knew microsound could be so dreamy?

VOKS - Vaks Vanskab Ak
[3"CD Dekorder 002]
Lurching like a toytown drunkard from busking
clockwork robot to a freeform Improv group
composed of wind-up toys left to play their
instuments at random, Voks' sound is simple yet
quite deranged. The ten tracks on Vaks Vanskab Ak
hold a fascinating melancholy despite their
jolly, enthusiastic lo-fi electronic sound.
Beamed from somewhere in the distant past of
childhood TV programmes, where mysteriously
archetypal
cutout figues parade to the rippling glockenspiel
and dribbled pipes of Pan junior or the
distantly-paced reeds and drums of "Obo Omo",
this is a music which is strangely nostalgic for
an imaginary past when the world really was new
and strange.

JOHN HEGRE - A Nice Place To Leave
[3"CD Dekorder 003]
Silent, humming noises with almost rhythmical
glitches lull you into a emotional drone, then
suddenly harsh bursts of white noise jump at you.
The changes are so abrupt and fast that they
sound a lot like an accident. Show me the
listener who will not glance a fast eye to his
stereo to check if it isn't broken. Yes, art hast
to rattle and startle. And "a nice place to
leave" is much more a piece of art than music.
Due to its nature I'd even call it concrete art
(not art concréte), completely ignoring the fact
that music develops in time and can't be stopped
at one certain point like a painting, where at
one point the artist declares the object to be
finished. Which is the magic of music in a lot of
ways.
