Aha! a topic i know something about, i'd almost come out of lurker-dom!

Erm, ok, no. One of his other books, "Metamagical Themas" is also of
interest and feels less dated to me. Especially his article there on
structure in Chopin's work and how those structures affected him emotionally
is very interesting and strangely touching. Though that book isn't as
directly about music as g.e.b., it is however about things like structure,
repetiton and selfreferentialness which should be deeply interesting to many
makers of micro music.

At least i think so, it's still not entirely clear to me exactly what this
micro music stuff is so i'll get back to lurking now.
