I'll second this. He was my inspiration for doing no-input through
effects pedals (in my Death Pig sets). (Side note: apparently the
show I saw was the last one with his Shoebox Feedback Machine, as bad
power in the venue toasted it.) He has plenty of info and CDRs
available at http://www.pulsewidth.com/
Before Myers' Arcane Device, you'd want to look at David Tudor's 1972
piece "Untitled," which is also no-input.

I'd think you'd be able to trace the history of this back at least a
bit further, but Tudor's the earliest proponent I've found in casual
searching. (The stress here being on casual.)
Hey Spider Baby--you're a Pittsburgher? You playing out at all? I
have a couple shows coming up in the near future, but no no-input
(the last no-input thing I did was a few weeks ago).
