since being 8 or 9 years old i do file sharing

with tapes and cassets, of course for some time,
and burners lately

yeas, i bought plenty of vinyl, tapes and cds in
my life time
but copied as well thousands

everybody used to tape records from one another
especially in the soviet fucking hell i grew up
in

i taped also from the air broadcasts

and made copies for others as other did for me

this underground distribution system always
existed with or without www.

irc channels and ftp servers were there long
before napster or even worldwide web urls were
created

we dont have to forgot that in a lot of places
people, actually the majority of world population
are struggling to survive from day to day,
so it will take another hundred of years the will
start having time to think about their music
choices or maybe create some music of their own

so far only the richest billion or whatever you
call them can physicaly participate in any
activity involving music because the rest of the
world is busy to get something to eat

so its ok that p2p is mostly stuff for urban
listeners in south and north american cities,
western europe, some lucky dudes in easten
europe, japan and Beijin and may be some people
in hitech regions in india. Australia and New
Zeland included.

BY the way if you look at geographycal
distribution of artist that create music
youll find it to be even more discriminatory
because there is almost no new music coming out
of China, India most of the rural us, etc.

Haha, even new york city with its close to 30
million metropolitan population is suspiciously
poor place for new influentional music to emerge,
especially considering 'per capita' figures.

On the other hand Germany, San Francisco, Canada
are definetly the leaders.

it is a very interesting fenomena thought still
to be researched.
