Hi everyone, I am really confused about certain comments.
Is anybody here under the impression that people in places like, let's
say for instance: latinoamerica; have no access to computers? Believe
it or not, people used to ask me if we had credit cards in
latinamerica, I used to say: "Yes, we have one, but only the chief is
allowed to use it".
The fact that some people are unable to find information regarding
artists in latinamerica [just an example because I grew up there] does
not mean that they don't exist. Different environments have different
networking sistems. The difference maybe is that I can have access to
the latinamerican electronic environment using the internet, and I
also have access to the european/us/canadian/etc or whatever
"geopolitical zone" you want to designate for "whites" [whatever that
means].
Just as an example: at the end of last year I played in Colombia, in
January in Mexico, in February I performed in Chile, this month in San
Diego California, and in May I'll be playing Lima-Peru. I don't see
the diference, all the places have an environment for this kind of
music or any kind of music.
Actually the one with less audiende of the ones I mentioned will
probably be San Diego, [is just a problem of communication maybe].
Is it true that there are differences between worlds, but, having
access to the work of "non-white" experimental sound artists is more a
problem of attitude that of lack of existence.
I can pick up 40 cds of south american electronic/sound artists from
my shelve [yes there are that many around ;)] and find their music and
information either trough P2P or just browsing on the internet.
Things like how much money you have or not, on the other hand, should
not be even part of the disscusion, however I am happy for the person
that has "all the money I need and then some." I hope that helps in
the musical process.
Hummmmm.......I am white, do I get extrapoints?
Saludos,
N.
A. Lima Peru rules and probably has more internet cafes than San Diego.
B. Audiences are usually smaller in the u.s. for any music really
except maybe
indie-rock. Does anyone know why this is?
