hello to all of you,
this is the may installment of the RICHARD CHARTIER update....

just back from the UK recording and performing at the wonderful new 
Music Research Centre in York. where i took part in as artist in 
residence. The facility is amazing and i completed 3 new pieces 
Retrieval #1-#3. and performed them live for the first time. certainly 
the finest performance space for electronic music i have been to.


spring seems to be a fleeting season....

 > CD . Chessmachine [ Mutek_rec, Canada ]  June, 2 2004. Ivan and I are 
happy to announce that MUTEK-REC label will be releasing CHESSMACHINE 
on CD in conjunction with the world premiere live performance piece as 
the opening event of MUTEK 2004. CHESSMACHINE is a collaborative art 
project conceived by Richard Chartier (USA) and Ivan Pavlov/COH (RUS). 
we excited to announce that we will be teaming up with Russian-American 
film/installation artists Evelyna Domnitch & Dmitry Gelfand ( 
http://www.portablepalace.com ) on the video projection aspect of the 
CHESSMACHINE conceptual live performance. expect the metaphysical mixed

 > 2x12" . 1.8 compilation. The compilation will be 2x12" records with 4 
tracks, 8 artists on each. Each artist has contributed a 1.8 second 
sound file to be a lock groove. Each work ends with another artists' 
lockgroove. Includes tracks by Richard Chartier, Tim Hecker, Mitchell 
Akiyama, Duul_Drv, Taylor Deupree, Kim Cascone, 3x3is9, Roel Meelkop.

2004/5. initial work has begun on this collaboration. It will be based 
on our collaborative performances in Rome and Madrid in March.

 > PRINT . "L-NExtraction" limited edition of 50 signed/numbered edition
