these guys do some interesting things. I suggest you check out the texts bit 
and John Bowers 
'Improvising Machines' which you can get in pdf for free from here.
Have you checked out Evan Parker and Lawrence Casserly's stuff. You can get 
hold of some of their 
music through Touch. They'll be worth looking at if you're interested in the 
combination of 
'traditional' instrumentalists (i know it's a bad way to label Evan Parker but 
it's late) and Laptop 
performers.
