ENViRON @ LOOP
SUNDAY AUGUST 1st : 7PM TIL LATE : $5
Environ returns again, mixing up the many music scenes of Melbourne to
create unique concoctions in a game-like fashion. By initiating unlikely
collaborations between established and emerging artists from diverse
backgrounds, new creations are formed before a captive audience.
On Sunday August the 1st, representatives of the Hip Hop, Traditional and
Rock music movements combine with modern laptoppers, video artists and
freestyle dub mixing engineers to create the third edition of Environ @
LOOP.
Ptero Stylus (Glen Christiansen), who's the beats and production brains
behind emerging Hip Hop crew 'Diafrix', encounters Ian Kitney the drummer
from 'Tim Rogers and the Temperance Union', culture jamming video artist
Emile Zile, and Brendan Palmer during Talula #5.
The Second set (Talula #6) sees the most unique instrumentalist so far enter
the equation when Greek Bouzouki player Byron Triandafillidis meets Japanese
electronic artist Ai Yamamoto, UK experimental film maker Paul Rodgers and
theremin wielding Mik laVage.
As part of the Talula process, the Audience is surrounded with one performer
in each corner of the room and the sets usually go for around an hour.
Through talula, artists get to know each other... a central goal of the
environ concept.
