[microsound] microsound list archive search

Hi Tad and Luka,

Having an archive is, of course, a beautiful thing. However, it's not much use if it cannot be searched properly...

I was just trying to pull up some old posts from the two different archives of this list:

http://skylined.org/microsound/
http://www.propheticdesire.com/microsound.htm

and I have to say that the Google option for search engine doesn't seem to be the best one. I seem to recall that Luka's page, on skylined.org, had a native search engine which worked much better before [or maybe I am mistaken?]. It would actually return posts and threads by author, name etc. This Google thing is really a mess, however. I can't even find my own posts on Linux, a topic on which I am [overly?]verbose around here ;-)

Propheticdesire.com:

http://www.google.com/search?q=derek+holzer+linux&btnG=Google+Search&domains=www.propheticdesire.com&sitesearch=www.propheticdesire.com

Your search - derek holzer linux - did not match any documents.

Skylined.org:
-------------

Search string: "derek holzer linux [microsound] site:skylined.org" returned one result:

microsound 2003-12
.... Sergio Luque: NHGFabrik. [microsound] card question.. Hazy ... derek holzer; Possible follow-ups; Auralbeeste. [microsound] Re: microsound Digest 24 Dec 2003 02:22 ... skylined.org/microsound/2003-12/threads.html - 20k - Cached - Similar pages

On top of that, once I have a page with threads open, the Google search button on the right "forgets" to look in skylined.org anymore, and pulls results from the web at large!

Isn't it possible to implement some server-side search function, rather than "outsourcing" it to Google?

Now, I totally appreciate the work you've done so far. I just wonder if there is a better way to plough through all the information which is stockpiled there.

best wishes,
d.
