Re: [microsound] Re: affordable internet radio broadcasting?
Thanks Derek (and everyone else)!
I didn't know this about live365, so all the more reason not to use them...
I'm not really looking to start a real radio station, it would just be an active stream of a given playlist. Speaking of which, who hosts the streams that are on the first several microsound projects? This is more like what I am looking to do, but without downloadable mp3s on the page, and hopefully at a higher bit rate as well. Something that sounds decent even on a 56k line, if possible.
Do they have server space for lease?
Thanks again, Dale

hi Dale,
if you aren't interested in setting up your own server [with Shoutcast
or Icecast] then you will probably have to use a commercial provider. I
played around with live365.com many years ago, and I just pulled up
their rates to see [it used to be free with a low number of listeners]:

One problem with Live365 is that you are paying ASCAP, BMI and SESAC
royalties on the music you play, even if it is all your own content or
content from your label which you have rights to anyway.
