Re: [microsound] early cd skipping

but I think that "history" nowadays is defined by the economically prevallent english speaking countries, which is not to say that lots of things are not happening in other parts and go largely unreported. So I

is it such that if something is un-reported, then is it 'still' history, or is history related to the reporting of an event? 'unreported histories' seems to be an oxymoron, though it's an intriguing concept. IMHO, it would seem that history is a collective manifestation which drifts on the sea of social being. while there are microscopic currents everywhere, the sea is created by the continual micro and macro human relating of events -- sharing of experience. the macro structure is made up of the accumulation of these micro events in the same way a social 'superorganism' (in Howard Bloom's terminology) comes to be from the constituent individuals. This explains the changeability of history over time, and from different social vantage points (different macro and micro ppoints-of-view), as well as the mechanism that says when there is a certain dominant social meme (anglo-centric in this case), then history is more often viewed from that meme's point...

that's why mailing lists, non-touristic travel, and any other possible cross-meme communication situations give rise to rich stories and the possibilities of seeing the world in a different Light...
