Graham is sooo right about AVID. I teach in the Film and Video Studies Program
at the University of Michigan and we phased out the AVID suites completely. As
the pioneers of the non-linear system I think they kind of assumed that
everyone would keep knocking at their door. Apple and before them, EditDV,
quietly developed a much more affordable and, ultimately, better system.

Mind you, the ibook is still kind of a four cylinder engine when it comes to
video performance. It can be done but I'll bet in a year you'll be sniffing
around for a G5 somewhere.
