There's the Sonic Arts Network CD, 'Interesting Results', which came out 
fairly recently, which profiled a lot of 'oustider artists'. Some on the 
disc have severe mental illness, and work obsessively on 4-tracking their 
music, with no interest in commercial circuits, and were discovered by the 
intrepid diy-music preservationist, Irwin Chusid. He is also, of course, the 
author of Songs in the Key of Z: The Curious Universe of Outsider Music 
(2000, A Cappella Books).
