[microsound] RE: new autechre. I (HEART) SND

hi all,

I'm coming kind of late to this discussion [in fact it's probably officially
over !] but i reckon the new Autechre album is awesome, regardless of how it
was made.

I like the friction between the apparent repetition & simplicity and the actual
complexity of it: the 'flow' of the tracks i.e. the way the tracks seems to
consist of sucessions of flavours/textures: the textural crossfading[and the
shock created by it] in each track as each new 'section' begins: the brief
glimpses of the external world through the use of voice samples[or is it some
kind of field recording]in one of the tracks towards the middle and the electro
stabs in the later track [I'm bad with names]

I've seen them play live 7 or 8 times [from the tri repetae tour uptil the tour
before the current one] and I've enjoyed it every time, often for very
different reasons. Mostly because increasingly, it's being created on the fly.

They didn't some to play in Ireland this time, so I haven't seen them on this
tour, which sucks, but such is life :) Can't afford to be globetrotting in
search of a sublime moment, although seeing that written down makes me question
my own logic :)

For what it's worth, I think snd are great too [especially one 12" I have which
seems to be on their own label?], but that new Mark Fell cd just blows my mind!
I listen to it on random play to break up the 'section' feel to it. I love
those
phasing/synchronisation tracks with the 'koto'-ish sound and the tracks with
the
digital concrete manipulations of something metal 'rasping' like crazy. Great
stuff!
