[microsound] website to modular environment and back (tech)

hi,

I'm planning a project with user input from a website and getting that 
data into a max or pd patch and streaming data/audio back to that site 
again.
Does anyone have any experience with this, which protocols, programming 
languages etc might be best for stuff like this?
Is there any way of integrating max like stuff in sites anyway?
What are the usual problems, latency e.a.?
