Re: [microsound] midi toys/devices

http://www.steim.org/steim/junxion_v2.html
steim's junxion should work for reaktor, and if not then maxmsp has the hi object for this
kind of thing, then you could send the messages from there with midi or open sound control.
gamecontrollers are very easily hacked too, as the innards are allways modular for quick assembly in the production line, so you just need to find where the joysticks are connected to the main board
and then substitute other controllers for the joysticks, which are usually just two pots attatched
to the x and y of the stick.
-hope this helps
bobby.

I don't know if joysticks will
>work -
>but try
>
>http://www.gyration.com/go24airmouse.htm
>
>it's a wireless mouse with a 30" range. My band mate and I are
>trying to
>make a midi device that would be similar to an infrared ring that
>would take
>the place of a mouse and give the audience more of a show. He
>already plays
>a semi homemade midi drum set . (www.the-matic.com)
>And he wants me to beef up my "show" part of it. We were even
>thinking of
>stylus type devices on a much larger scale.
>
>If any one has any suggestions on devices.....please advise.
>
>Choncey
>
>> >From: graham miller <grahammiller@xxxxxxxxxxxx>
>> >Reply-To: grahammiller@xxxxxxxxxxxx
>> >To: Microsound <microsound@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>
>> >Subject: [microsound] gaming joysticks as MIDI controllers?
>> >Date: Sat, 12 Nov 2005 20:05:56 -0500
>> >
>> >in my quest to find new and interesting and futuristic MIDI
>>controllers
>> >i came across these crazy joysticks used for gaming (which i'm
>>just
>> >getting back into after about a 15 year absence... the last video
>>game i
>> >played was ultima 4 and i just bought tron 2.0 the other day and
>>am
>> >obsessed again):
>> >
>> >http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/productlist/CA/EN,crid=2214
>> >
>> >anyway, long story short: can these be used to control reaktor or
>> >whatnot? i can't think of anything cooler than making music with
>>looks
>> >like the cockpit of a fighter jet...
>> >
>> >g.
>> >
>> >
>> >
>> >
>> >---------------------------------------------------------------------
>> >To unsubscribe, e-mail: microsound-unsubscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
>> >For additional commands, e-mail: microsound-help@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
>> >website: http://www.microsound.org
>> >
>>
>>_________________________________________________________________
>>Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger!
