personally, i have to say i prefer monitoring with the krks (even the 
v4s are ludicrously revealing for their size, but the v6, or v8 give you 
a deeper bass response) to the mackies, even though i like the sound of 
the mackies, but i guess that only shows to demonstrate that once you 
get into the realm of monitors that can really do a revealing job there 
is an aspect of personal taste still at work
as a side note, a serious pair of headphones like the sony 7506 or 7509 
will serve you *really* well in accompaniment, and again after much 
auditioning, and returning various pairs i prefer the sonys to various 
beyers and sennheisers that i tried (sennheisers way too much bass)
