I think it goes even beyond that.  Most of the American Bourgeoisie
live in cul-de-sac littered suburbs with big green well-watered lawns
and don't even have to be subjected to their surroundings.  This could
explain WHY the "Great White Flight" occurred:  to get away from
contact with those of more downtrodden socioeconomic classes.
