Re: [microsound] OT: I am stupid

Its a black and white issue really. Macs are a proprietary technology, which creates a simple standad for and dev's to follow, wether it be hardware or software. PC is a licenced technology(or open) and there are a mind numbing amount of configurations for a dev to consider. What that all translate to is if you want to use a PC you better be a person who has a propensity for technical aptitude. I own both systems and they both have there pros and cons. I do know that the when i work on projects for a living they are on the mac. My pc's in the studio stomp my mac's intot he ground in regards to horse power and the money invested. I have a Mac Quad tower with 16 gigs of ram that gets eaten alive by a single AMD 64+ with 4 gigs of ram. Mac quad tower 5 grand(with ram). Pc i built my self, $1200. I liek that fact that i can crack any of my pc towers open and replace anything that needs and upgrade or fixing. I can do this cheapley because the PC market has mass competition, where as mac really doesnt.

Having said all that prefer Mac. I would recommend one to any person wanting to start to learn how to use a computer. In the end, to each is own. ITs a tool and it depends on how you use it. I have seen people do amazing things on the most ancient of platforms. Its all up to the individual

You need to calm the fuck down tho and act a little more mature. Cant you get your point across without sounding like such an asshole?

I think I've broken the 'mic input' of my laptop by inputting my guitar via

it's only a new opportunity.

i'm guessing you're using windows ... [too bad for you!]

well, you can try and adjusting the levels of the input signal via
control panel [make sure nothing's plugged in]. i've never had your
particular, um, 'experience' before. my expectation is that there's a
analog to digital converter that does the work of turning the audio
into a digital format. i wouldn't expect it to 'blow' like a speaker,
it would just write FFFFFFF [or whatever].

but i am not an audio hardware engineer, so maybe this type of thing
is possible.

i would guess a USB audio is always an option, whether or not you have
blown the converter.

you might also try google or the search engine of your choice on
something like 'audio analog digital converter blown' or something
similar.

also, try the 'line in' instead of mic. mic input usually adds 20db to signal.

Sorry for being off-topic, but when you think about it this message is about
the aesthetics of failure... :-D

hmm- more 'hardware falure during aesthetic effort' but nice try ...
