patience, patience.

why do you expect to be able to use a piece of software instantly? if
you're learning a guitar you're going to have to have been playing it for
at least a year or two before you can start to make some decent music with
it - and if you're playing a violin that figure is more like ten years. why
should a piece of software be any different?

i've been learning PD for about three years now, and i've only just reached
the stage where i can use it as a musical instrument - but i'm amazingly
glad i took the time, because what i've now got is a software instrument
that i can play with a midi controller keyboard without ever having to look
at the laptop screen - talking about getting lost in the moment, that's
*exactly* why i wrote my set of patches.

this is all one take, live, and completely improvised - in other words
conceived and executed on the fly, just like an 'ordinary' instrumentalist
might play something.
