Just
one question about the track you posted: is it done live? what is it you
cannot do (or not easily) in a GUI sequencer?
No, it is not live, it's all pre-sequenced. Before I go on, you have to
realise that there are not really a 'feature-set' defining trackers
uniquely... so depending on the tracker you use, you will be able to do some
tricks an not others.
The feature I was refering to is specific to one of them (I don't think
renoise implements that) and allows to create a table that express parameter
changes over time in a radical & fast manner. These parameter can be filter
changes, pitch changes, retrigger, playback position and so on. Tables can
be associated to instruments (i.e. they are fired each time the instrument
is played) or triggered at anytime to bring some dramatic changes.
I would lie if I said that you couldn't achieve it in a traditional GUI
sequencer. With a lot of mouse fiddling, cut and paste and would be just a
lot less convienient.
