I'm absolutely not convinced as for this : there's no fatality
whatsoever here (it's we that design our own destiny ...).

Well, as to environment in general, it's up to the political
responsibles to ever see the both sides of the coin (e.g., the potential
conservation of both nature and working places ...). However, economy
and ecology do not really exclude each other : while it might still be
necessary to 'ecologize' the former on a more general level, there do
yet exist new interesting approaches within the context of 'industrial
ecology' aiming at something like (an) 'industrial ecosystem(s)'
interacting on a symbiosis basis (e.g., reciprocal recycling) ...
Not to speak of creating (new) working places just *for* protection /
conservation purposes ...

Ok, fortunately you do have yet your 'delete'-button ... ; this kind of
discussion is but the exception and not the rule on sound topic lists
(one might occasionally be ruled by, but it shouldn't yet entirely be
ruled out) ... In general, Imho that it is by virtue of the music's
substance that a musician is to interact with the society rather than an
explicit political commitment ...
