if you are sending "practical jokes" (conceptual art-pieces) to labels that 
isn't a good start for anything..other than derision..

the best thing to do is to hang out, drink beers, go to shows, and work your 
pretty-little ass off with other people who are working their 
pretty-little-asses off just to stay not broke and (hopefully) record and 
release stuff.

i was going to release a bunch of stuff i recorded a little ways back, did 
LOTS of research, contacted a bunch of labels, got a chance to have peter 
rehberg listen to it, give some feedback,etc..and just decided that, 
revelation, it just WASN'T THE BEST TIME TO RELEASE IT! it's tons and tons 
of work to do something like this, especially with a 'big' label..

so instead i spent days and nights slaving over/booking/creating a fest, 
released stuff there, met some cool people (scott allison, eM, n.kra, v. 
stevenson, etc..), and am still working my ass off to record/write/set up 
shows/etc..

put simply, if you're not willing to do the time and slave away and work 
your ass off for something to happen, it probably won't, or probably wasn't 
meant to.
