as i mentioned before, the work that i have heard of christophe charles is
usually lengthy sections of environmental recordings, bells, wood, wind and
other random or semi-random (in a VERY Cagean sense) sources. to say that he
leaves them unprocessed is a bit of an exaggeration, though... there is a
lot of subtle mixing, and for live events and installations he tends to set
up systems which allow the sounds to be spacially located in interesting
ways. very minimal, still, and very un-digital. i actually didn't know that
'dok' was at least in some part charles' work as well. i'll have to track it
down. look for charles' other stuff if yoiu have a chance, maybe staalplat
has something in their back catalog....
