Speaking for myself, I have been very fortunate to have people donate
webspace, for which I am grateful. 8bitrecs and granulat.org have both
generously provided 20 MB each of webspace. I also have 50 MB of
webspace from school. But at the risk of sounding ungrateful (and I'm
not; did I mention how grateful I am? I'm really grateful), even 90 MB
is pretty tiny for 2 web labels, so I do "limited editions" where it's
up for a month and then I put up something else. I kind of like this
approach actually, but I'm thinking of maybe getting a grant so I can
afford more webspace and have more permanent releases.

I have always loved the idea of freely downloadable mp3's, and enjoy
giving other people a venue for their work. Plus, getting people's
submissions in the mail is *&%in' GLEEFUL! It's like Christmas everytime
somebody sends me something. There is nothing like it.

For my "domain name" I have relied on really cheesy url redirect things
that are at least free. see www.has.it or www.shorturl.com for examples.
Sure beats:

"http://www.reallybadfreehosting.com/memberpages/~yourweblabelhere";

for a url.

I haven't spent a dime on my web label. Just my free time is about all
I've invested. It's the right thing to do and the tasty way to do it, as
Wilford Brimley might say.*

*cheese.
