Yes, I went to John's opening of Autocaster and I thought it was quite
good. It was more of a glitchy macro than microsound, but I think that
Henry of Polestar is going to have the volume adjusted to play at a lower
volume than what it was for the opening. John Bain is a good friend of
mine but I can honestly attest to the brilliance of his (somewhat modest)
electronic wizardry. John and his twin brother Mark (who has a 3" cd
release on Staalplaat) are dumpster diving geniuses (or mad scientists?)
who circuit bend various found electronic instruments and non-instruments
into unique sound devices. Having architectural backgrounds, they have
also used certain knowledge for sound installations evolving around the
vibrating of various structures and utilizing spacial acoustics. Mark
Bain is based out of the Netherlands and John is here in
Seattle.
Ok, howz that for a spontaneous spew intended toward promoting my
friends?
Uh, yes, go see/hear it.
Best, Dale
