[microsound] Net-Art vs electronic music
Hi *,
What would you guys think, is the lowest common aesthetic denominator
net-art and electronic music have?
Let me clarify the terms.
net-art: those flash-thingies floating around the net as well as
web-pages, but also obfuscated code contests and the like, basically
every piece of "art" that definitely needs the Net as basic aesthetic
concept
electronic music: "serious music" (don't you hate that term?) from
Stockhausen onwards until now, including explicitly (experimental)
techno, and club-sounds as found on eg the transmediale, But excluding
New Age.
What makes net-art what it is in the first place?
Why is there so much so-called net-art that might exist as an inherently
not-interactive video-tape as well?
What would you wish for in a hypothetical instrument for
collaborative/interactive music/art on the Net?
Cheers
Niklas
