I'm not sure what the chances are that anyone will take action to address any of the complaints people are raising but here are some thoughts. 



1) get a moderator: I know Kim wants to keep this list all free (as in freedom) but it's clear this is becoming free (as in beer) advertising space for small promoters/labels. Someone said that the noise was drowning out the signal and I agree. Why not filter the stream? The other list I'm on is moderated and it is great. There are only minor off topic notices and no widescale ads. Sure, someone has to do the job but i'm sure there are plenty of people around who would volunteer.



2) start two new lists, microsound-releases and microsound-events : I agree that sometimes I like to look around and see what's going on or see what just came out. The problem is that all of these notices are jumbling the discussions, which, I believe, is the whole point of the list. If these items were separated, people could pick what they type of data they want to stream in through the optical sensors.



3) let things keep getting worse: sooner or later a rapture like departure will leave commercial postings echoing off one another in a vast empty space. 



Not sure if this is moving the dialoge forward at all, just sayin' is all.
