ok, so i saw the start of this thread, missed the middle, and came back 
here, and i have only a somewhat unhelpful comment:
This sentence kinda makes me question the importance of "capturing the 
space" - sometimes reality is simply not needed!

The Thanksgiving Cocktail
     2 oz rye
     1/2 oz cranberry juice (pure, unsweetened)
     1/2 oz lemon juice
     1/2 oz maraschino
     1/2 oz simple syrup
Shake with ice and serve
in a chilled cocktail glass
