Has anyone had any experience with m-audios microtrack recorder?
I'm looking for a recorder that's small (pocketsize would be perfect)
and not to expensive and thought this might be ok.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
after doing a lot of research and polling about compact flash recorders
vs minidisc and hi-md recorders i opted to go with a sony hi-md unit.
the lower price was certainly a plus, but some of the information i saw
regarding quirks in the cf recorders (specifically the microtrack) made
me shy away from them for the time being. i think that if you search
the
phonography archive you will find a thread of these discussions. some
of these issues may have been ironed out with firmware updates by now
and could be moot, but at the time they pushed me into the md camp.
granted, i had a sony minidisc unit already, along with a mic pre for
it
which also works with my hi-md unit, so that was also a factor. i think
ultimately what decided me was the price, most other factors balanced
themselves out. i bought this hi-md to use on my west coast tour and
it worked great, digital transfers to my mac laptop went smoothly and
the recordings came out beautifully, so i'm happy with my decision.
cheers
