Re: [microsound] beware the decibel...
Randal,
My objection was that listening to loud music once does not
instantly make you go deaf like jabbing yourself in the eyes with a
sharp object would.
I had a blast at the AC DC concert.. for various reasons but I actually
didn't really enjoy the merzbow concert.. see them doing various
things on stage but all I could hear was a wall of static.
The interesting thing in comparing the two is that AC/DC had way more
amplification but of course were in an arena versus Merzbow being in a
small club/bar with a basic PA.
Since then I have been to performances occasionally and some really
noisy performances but with no ringing.
I would be alot more concerned if I was exposed to that kind of volume
on a regular or daily basis.
I do worry though and I know that tinnitus can strike regardless of
exposure to loud music.. my mother has lost hearing in one ear from it.
Maybe she was wilder in the 60's that she admits??
