Re: [microsound] Re: livecoding / something to watch whilst we listen

but isnt this a hangover from the 'see a guitar hear a
guitar' thing that kodwon eshun was going on about in
his book 'More brilliant than the sun: adventures in
sonic fiction' .......it is a bit of a contradiction,
maybe, to put someone on stage-a visual space
really-when all they're dooing, visually, is touching
a few buttons.....obviously its gonna be more
interesting watching someone really into their large
amount of kit, as its more of a visual performance. i
remember watching scanner at the garage in the 90's
and it was quite tense, really, watching him scan
live. but maybe thats another thing.

some people i used to know in leeds did a club-in the
90's- and to develop the space they got in acrobats,
made indoor waterfalls, made humourous installations
like a speaker in a toilet that played a continuous
flush-this may not amuse everyone i know-and so forth,
really a kind of circus atmosphere a lot of the time,
putting on a show.

hmmmm..........i've just been trying to read 'sound
and light' about la monte young and marian zazeela
(apos for inac spelling...) and whilst i didnt get
very far-its an indepth book-i thought of that in
response to these postings....another type of
development. or the ryoji ikeda gig at the barbican
recently, that was interesting, with the visuals.
