i use live a lot for my work, which has no rhythmic structure
other than that implied by the use of loops. the ability to
map your computer keyboard to trigger files is quite handy,
eliminating the need for some kind of controller, like a keyboard.
live 4 now supports vsti's, so it can host your favorite softsynth
or sampler, and it draws less cpu than cubase or pro tools.
it is also a great tool for live instrument processing, i use it
frequently with grm tools and my sustainer guitar and it has
become my host of choice for live work on my laptop running
panther. all-in-all a great, flexible, well thought out piece of
software.
