Re: [microsound] I want myspace MTV

But on the other hand its incredible how really good music is increasingly
hard to find in this endless and ever-growing ocean of mp3s.

I would argue that the ease of use and sloppier signal to noise ratio, however irritating, is insignificant compared to the freedom afforded those that actually put something into their work. This is all necessary. Those that suck will be mocked or ignored and sink. Those that are good will rise and become virulent. Let natural market forces decide.

And I say again - there is SO much good stuff out there if one bothers to look for it.

Sometimes it
makes you wanna get back to the times when the musician career had
difficult but clearly defined steps, each one of which provided rewards
when achieved.

Such as what? Finding a patron (or label)? Graduating from some school or other?

No, each must find their own path and make their own milestones. Or not.

There have always been folk artforms, longer than there have been academic or commercial forms.
It's the soup from which all art derives its genesis, not the other way around.

Anything that allows art to evolve and propagate on its own merit independent of heirarchy or bureaucracy is good in my book.
