Re: [microsound] law and order at last.fm

thank you for your understanding Sietse!
Internet had the same impact on my music. I wouldn't be where i am if i had
not crossed the infinite possibilities it gave me. I made a cover of "video
killed the radio star" entitled "computer killed the synthesis stars" about
the subject.

I too, would rather see people listening to my music, spreading it like
germs all over the univers than make money from it. And *the majors* know
this more than well. My only worry is to see major take advantage of the
independent musicians contemporary situation.

While we are the ones who create the content! Money is made out of myspace,
last.fm, virb.com or what so ever social networks... :) have you got a
myspace? i have. Have you ever got any money from them? i havn't... Sure
some people may have comed to my venues thanks to myspace, payed the
entrancy and beers, ice-tea or what ever... but the actual site money? where
dose it goes?

I'm not saying one should restrict it's music to people who can affort it.
ANd i strongly recommend to everybody to use the promotional tools "given"
to us! Because never before could the artist be so close to it's audience.

I'm just sensing that they are trying to inverse the industry, but on our
level: the indpendent level. Making us pay for distribution, where the music
should pay the artist AND the distributor.... not only the
distributor.(hobby or not it is ALOT of time and energy we spend right?) And
it is important that we stay aware of the undefinable value of our art!

I think i said it all now. :)

thanks,
reSet
