I don; t want to agree (to tell you the truth), but I can' t disagree
as well...
The point is that what a culture really is heavily depends on who is
concerned. Yes, maybe seem like they are in the culture for sb (at
least that' s what they wanted, right?), but I don' t know if they
trully are, in every occasion. I don' t even know in what extend they
can alter the cultural identity of a society. I guess that if the
last one is strong enough, it won' t be so easy, and I say this out
of experience.
But, do we really want them to be our culture? Do we really want a
"pop", "global", "mono" or any-kind of culture that doesn' t promote
individuality? And think of what a culture like this implies , it
just transforms art to good for sale....
I don;t need that kind of culture, I even hate what pop music has
done to our job. As the years passed by,for example, all electronica
records sounded the same. Overcompressed, same loops, same lyrics, a
boost in mid-freqs and a bass that punches, same harmony..... I am
really bored of listening to that kind of stuff, as I said I need
variety and something that has voice of its own.
