Re: [microsound] Call for Work: Queer Experimental Sound

Mac,

I know you didn't mean it that way. I appreciate that you called PH on
the carpet about his response to Ethan's posting. At this point, I
think enough has been said on the topic. A little vetting is a good
thing, too much gets tiresome. And I try to keep homopedantry to a
minimum (not always with success). PH now has his 15 nanoseconds of
fame. Next.

I'll be sure to post my PHnoise somewhere I can share it with
microsounders. I'm going to play a little with an Anita Bryant LP I
picked up in a garage sale. I'm thinking of using the title "Phpht."

Thanks for your email.

JC

JC,

By no means was I suggesting that it was a trifle - I'm one of the
first people who called him on the carpet for his homophobia. I guess I
was just saying that it's not terribly productive to vet these matters
on email. It only gets more attention than it deserves and results in
amplifying the situation. Ooops, I guess I just did that, didn't I?

At any rate, I look forward to hearing what you produce in response.

sincerely,

mac

People.
Really.

Did PH scream "fag!" ["phag?"] in response to the call for works?
I didn't read the word, but after years of experience as the target

For me it isn't enough to move on and leave the conversation behind.

finish it this weekend.

His smarmy email has nothing to do with any debate about identity >
(politics), or marxism, or post-post-anything else. I love that stuff.
It's about petulance.

Todd got it right. PH's coprophagous attitude makes the need for >
Bending Sound all the more necessary.

At any rate, it's probably best to just move on, no?

On the other hand, identity politics tend to leave a bad taste in
my

depoliticizing, especially on the economic front, and with the

I'd feel a little different if I saw some attempt to make

would you react the same way to a posting for artists of color?
your
